The Mines of Drenek

The Mines of Drenek

Named for a cleric of the evil dwarven power Abbathor, even the avarice of good dwarves is awakened by the legends of this mine.

Legend has it that Drenek is the reason for Abbathor’s current restriction against stealing from other dwarves. In the dawn of the dwarven race Drenek was a skilled artificer and cleric who fell to the greed, murder and worship of Abbathor. He even sunk to stealing from other Dwarves…and then murdering his clan mates. His family had been owners of a mine, one that he converted into a vast dungeon fortress to protect the great treasures he had stolen.

When his clan found out about his murderous ways they sought to bring him to justice. But he retreated into the mine and proceeded to capture and murder his clan mates. His brilliant crafts and creations held off and destroyed anyone who came after him.

Eventually, even Abbathor removed his patronage. But Drenek then did the unthinkable… Taking his own son and sacrificing him, Drenek turned to the worship of the Mad God and became the only know Dwarven Lich.

The Mines of Drenek are believed to be in the Crystalmist Mountains. Although the Dwarven cities there were destroyed in the invoked devastation..the mine and its mad, warped undead creator are surely still there. Along with vast uncounted treasures of dwarven antiquity.
